Sonic 2 is widely considered to be one of the best games in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, and is credited with popularizing the series outside of Japan. Sonic 2 features a number of changes from the original game, including an expanded zone selection screen and a more versatile move set for Sonic and Tails. Along the way, the player must collect rings as a form of currency, and defeat Robotnik’s robots using the spin attack. Robotnik from building his Death Egg II spacecraft. The game’s storyline follows Sonic and Tails as they attempt to stop the evil Dr. Sonic 2 builds upon the gameplay of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, introducing new elements such as the ability to play as Sonic’s sidekick, Tails, and the Super Sonic transformation.
The game was released in Japan on Novemand in North America and Europe on June 23, 1993.
